Riemann Master School on ζeta Functions

June 10 – 14, 2014
Leibniz Universität Hannover

The Riemann Master School on Zeta Functions is to be held at the Leibniz Universität Hannover from 10 to 14 of June 2014. It offers up to 40 master students in mathematics and theoretical physics the opportunity of gaining insight into various modern aspects of Riemann's zeta function and its generalizations. Apart from their importance in analytic number theory, representation theory and algebraic geometry, zeta functions have become an indispensable tool also in quantum field theory and other branches of physics. The school will reflect this fact through lectures approaching zeta functions from both a mathematical and physical point of view.

The program consists of two 90 minute lectures each morning accompanied by exercise sessions in the afternoons. The topics and speakers are

"The Riemann Zeta Function and Arithmetic"
Valentin Blomer (Georg-August Universität Göttingen)

"A Theory of the Zeros of Riemann Zeta and Other L-functions"
André LeClair (Cornell University)

"On the Distribution of Zeros of the Riemann Zeta Function"
Jörn Steuding (Universität Würzburg)

Upon completion of the school participants will receive a certificate that may be used as qualification for credit points at their home institution.

Interested master students are invited to apply by using the registration form.

Deadline for application: May 16, 2014
